Actually, as of now, this is one of the issues of windows 8 since most drivers are not yet compatible with it, most especially with Video Cards to be specific. But then again, you could check your vendor or make an update with regards your Video Card Driver, otherwise performance and acceleration will be lost, in short it will not be maximize. And also Photoshop CS6 have been reported to have problems when you are not running the latest video card driver and do NOT use auto-updates as well for the video card, since they don’t always have access to the latest version, instead go directly to the manufacturer’s website then download it manually.
In my situation, I’m currently using Radeon HD 5570, and I did visit
amd’s site hoping to find a compatible driver for Windows 8 OS for my video
card and fortunately I did found it. (yey). So at this point also, you could go
to the website for the type of video card you have and download the latest drivers
for your video card. Below are the links:
After doing some updates, restart Photoshop, then try again.
If that didn’t work then you should adjust the setting of GPU & OpenGL
in Photoshop CS6. Just follow the instructions below..
Step 1. Click on Edit
and then Preferences, or simply press
Ctrl + K, a dialog box will then
appear
Step 2. See screenshot below (Click to enlarge)
Step 3. Set the drawing mode to Basic
then Press Ok
Step 4. Restart Photoshop.
